Apparently they no longer exist, and all 3/4/5's are now commanding insane prices.
I remember just a few years ago you could grab an e36 m3 for $3-5k. Prices have doubled to trippled.

Depreciation reached it's lowest point a few years ago for the E36, soon the oldest E36's will be 25 years old.

Yup. Wanted to buy one when I bought my 135, but it was nigh impossible to find a reasonably clean example with a stick. Too many autos, too many torn up examples.

The worst part is the E46 M3's are getting higher in mileage and the service costs are too much for current owners to bear BUT they still want top dollar for their riced out coupes. That or every E46 M3 for sale is a convertible with the SMG -__-

$18k is out of this fucking world. A nice clean E46 goes for $18k (and a respectable E39 M5 goes for a little over). Insane.

37k on the clock though.
2950 bucks, Dakar Yellow with a rebuilt title, rough exterior and interior but I'd drive it.

Hellrot for 9k, pretty clean fairly unmolested as far as I can tell:

It's all about service records. real/non-superficial $$$ preventative and scheduled maintenance is key. that hand having a few thousand burning a hole in your pocket in case you miss something on the PPI is beneficial as well.

does this count as an "unmolested M3?"
if so, it's pretty good for the money...

Dude, EAG has scooped up ALL clean M cars, it's ridiculous. I wanted one of these bad, but wasn't paying 13+K for one. I ended up with an e39 m5 that needed mechanical TLC for similar money. After a complete engine rebuild, I've got a 5 year newer car than the e36 in a much nicer chassis for 11k.
